<p>Tick! Tick!! Tick!!! The clock is quickly counting down on the start of <a href=" much-anticipated spring drilling program at its White Gold Property in the Yukon. In fact, that program will likely start earlier than most people expect. The company knows where the established Golden Saddle deposit is going, and they're turning up new targets. So this will be a big year for them.</p>
<p>As with Keegan and some other exploration stories we've covered, the third year is where the big leaps can be made. Why? Well, things like resource estimates are then possible because of the accumulated benefits of three years of exploration. And wouldn't you know it, Underworld released the firstever resource estimate for the Golden Saddle and Arc deposits at White Gold in January.</p>
<p>The resource at Golden Saddle includes 1.0 million ounces of gold indicated (9.8 million tonnes at 3.2 g/t gold) and 407,000 ounces inferred (5.0 million tonnes at 2.5 g/t gold). The resource at the Arc includes 170,000 ounces gold inferred (4.4 million tonnes at 1.2 g/t). Importantly, the bulk of this resource is open-pittable: 93% at Golden Saddle and 100% at Arc.</p>
<p>In fact, the numbers surprised consensus expectations in two ways: The size of the resource (most analysts had predicted around 1.2 million total ounces, compared to the 1.4 million indicated and inferred ounces reported), and the amount of the resource included in a projected open pit (about 1.3 million total ounces indicated and inferred).</p>
<p>The Golden Saddle deposit now measures 580 meters in strike length and up to 560 meters in down-dip length. It remains open along strike to the northeast, and down dip to the northwest, with alteration and mineralization increasing to the northeast. For example, the most northeasterly and deepest drilling includes Hole 101, which intersected 4.86 g/t gold over 23.38 meters and Hole 103, which intersected 5.07 g/t gold over 25.38 meters.</p>
<p>This is why I, and other Underworld shareholders, are excited about the spring drill program - the company's geologists know where the gold is at Golden Saddle. And with this season's aggressive program employing up to four drills, they should begin quickly adding to the resource.</p>
<p>They're also going to be testing outlying targets, the most promising of which was recently announced: a 40-kilometer-long and up to 12-kilometer-wide trend of gold prospects and anomalous gold in soil geochemistry at the JP Ross and Maisy May property, about 35 kilometers north of Golden Saddle.</p>
<p>Underworld's geologists collected over 6,200 soil samples on this property in 2009, including four soil grids that outlined highly prospective targets. For example, the �Frenzy� soil anomaly measured 2.7 by 1.0 kilometers, consisting of 459 soil samples with an average grade of 18 ppb (parts per billion) gold.</p>
<p>The Frenzy anomaly is underlain by similar host rocks as the Golden Saddle deposit, with a similar geochemical signature. By way of comparison, the Golden Saddle soil anomaly measured 1.8 by 0.9 kilometers, and consisted of 348 samples at an average grade of 22 ppb gold.</p>
<p>Will Frenzy, or any of the other previous and new targets now outlined turn out to be another Golden Saddle? There's no telling at this point, but it's safe to say that with four drills probing the established gold trends at Golden Saddle and Arc, plus the new targets, this could be a truly explosive year for Underworld Resources.</p>
<p>At its current price, Underworld is one of the best bets in today's market.</p>
