VANCOUVER, May 16 /CNW/ - Tumi Resources Limited (the "Company") (TSXV: TM) (PinkSheets: TUMIF) (Frankfurt: TUY).  Mr.

David Henstridge, President, announces that rehabilitation of access roads and regional mapping at La Gloria gold-tungsten-tin project has been completed.  La Gloria is located about 250 km by road east of Hermosillo, Sonora and is held within two contiguous mineral claims totalling 200 hectares optioned from a private Mexican owner.

A report from 1959 states that La Gloria was discovered around 1955 by a group of Mexican prospectors.

During a 3-week period in 1956 they reportedly produced 120 tons of 65% WO3 (tungsten oxide) using very crude mining and concentrating methods.

As part of a due diligence process, the Company conducted three campaigns of rock sampling for a total of 117 samples collected from the skarn host rock, a nearby intrusive and younger volcanics.

At the main workings, near the north end of the documented skarn body, a contiguous set of 16 channel samples (32 m), taken perpendicular to the trend of the zone, averaged 3.3 g/t gold, 958 ppm (0.1%) tungsten and 498 ppm (0.05%) tin.

Over the last month, road access rehabilitization and regional mapping has been completed over and around the main zone of interest.  Mapping has revealed that the main zone has an apparent strike length of about 600 m NE-SW and a lateral, horizontal exposure of up to 300 m NW-SE. How much of this is contiguous stratigraphy is not known; much of this lateral exposure is along the dip slope, and a true thickness has not yet been established.

At least 3 phases of skarn have been identified on and around the property.

The northern part of the skarn zone appears to be dominated by a garnet-diopside+/- actinolite phase while further to the south-west, the main zone is dominated by ferruginous oxides (hematite, geothite, limonite) that appear to be the weathered products of semi-massive to massive sulphides.

A third phase, consisting of mostly garnet interlaced with magnetite and minor pale green to greyish-white mica, occurs west of the main zone.

Mr.

Henstridge stated: "It is pleasing to see La Gloria project moving forward quickly.

The project was initially reviewed as a tungsten prospect particularly in light of the fact that, recently, several reports have identified tungsten and tin suffering possible critical supply shortages in the near future.

The discovery of a significant amount of gold in the system is a big and very pleasant surprise.

Our immediate work program will now be focussed on detailed mapping and sampling within the main skarn zone to define the limits of the prospective skarn mineralization; this will advance La Gloria to the drill stage very quickly."

The qualified person for the Companys projects, David Henstridge, a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, has visited La Gloria in Mexico and has verified the contents of this news release.

On behalf of the Board,
"David Henstridge"
