The Australian mining industry today recognised two long-standing members of the sector during the 2009 Resourceful Events �Excellence in Mining and Exploration� conference.

The Annual Legends in Mining Awards recognises the work of individuals who have made a pioneering contribution to the industry.



This year, Mr Ross Fardon Executive Director of Sigma Resources Limited and Chairman of Cloncurry Metals Limited and Mr.Vince Gauci, Director of Newcrest Mining and Liontown Resources and Chairman of Runge Limited were presented with the 2009 Resourceful Event�s Legends Award.

The Award recognizes Mr.

Fardon and Mr.

Gauci�s pioneering fieldwork and excellence in management of Australian mining companies.

The Award recognized Mr.Fardon�s illustrious career in the industry, having been appointed to the boards of several Australian mining companies, and consulted internationally to industry and government throughout Australia, the United States, Fiji, and Mexico.



Mr.Gauci was commended for his dedication and excellence in the management of several Australian mining companies including CRA, MIM, Denehurst and Pancontinental Mining.



The Awards were held over a breakfast function at the 2009 Resourceful Events �Excellence in Mining and Exploration� conference which saw presentations by over 40 mining companies.

The program also featured presentations by industry leaders on the the latest developments of the global mining industry, and for the first time interactive workshops.



General Manager of Resourceful Events Ms Polly Hitman said that the exceptional turn out at the 2009 program reflected the level of activity that continued within the sector despite challenging market conditions and was also representative of an increasing interest among investors for junior mining companies.



The two day conference is an annual program designed to provide an informative forum for investors to meet with executives from Australian mining companies.
