7th International Mines Rescue Competition Goes Down Under

Sydney (Australia), 05 Nov 2010- Coal Services Australia is hosting the 7th International Mines Rescue Competition from 8th-12th November 2010 at its Southern Mines Rescue Station, Woonona (Wollongong), NSW, Australia.

On Tuesday 9th November the Hon Steve Whan MP, NSW Minister for Mineral and Forest Resources, will officially launch the international competition which is designed to test the skills of mines rescue contenders from around the world.



A total of 16 mines rescue teams from seven countries will be introduced to the Australian competition format, which will involve simulation of real events in an underground coal mine at Gujarat NRE, Russell Vale.

Competitors will also be exposed to the world�s best practice virtual reality facilities for underground coal mining, which will add a new layer of competition for the international mines rescue teams.



Countries represented in the cutting-edge competition will include Russia, the Ukraine, Poland, USA, India, China and Australia (NSW & QLD) with the winning team to be announced at an awards presentation dinner on Friday 12 November in Wollongong.

This year�s program is hosted by Coal Services Australia and sponsored by Dr�ger, Xstrata Coal NSW, Peabody, Employers Mutual and Spark Helmore.
